Ancestral Nature Walk 2

We went on another "ancestral nature walk" on the path that Sam and I discovered in October on land that our ancestors used to own and/or farm in a neighboring town. We did this on Veterans Day, which was a pleasant, mild, cloudy day this year. I didn't even need to wear a coat! My mom came with us this time, which was nice since it's through her line that we're connected to the land and town(s) all around here.

We took an alternate path in the woods this time and discovered this nice bench in a scenic spot on a wooded cul-de-sac. We also discovered that trails in the woods can have cul-de-sacs. Who knew!

Note the cute little heart on the bench. 💖

I walked ahead by myself for some of the way because I like to walk faster than those slowpokes. 😉

There was a cool twisty vine wrapped around a tree and sticking out from it...

And there were goats grazing in the field.

Me and the goats 🐐

After our walk we went to a nearby cemetery where some of our more recent ancestors are buried and we cleaned up their gravesites. Then we got ice cream at Cold Stone. It was a lovely outing together. I'm thankful for nature walks with loved ones, for my ancestors, for mild weather, and for ice cream! 🍦
