August 2023 Randoms

I acquired these sunglasses at the Cape in August. The middle ones are the ones I wear the most. The heart ones are the cutest and the most fun. The top ones help me pretend to be Mrs. Tom Cruise. 😉

Speaking of whom, Sam and I went to the movies to see Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning while were at the Cape.

It was so good -- Tom Cruise knows how to make a really entertaining movie! Plus, dang! He is a good-looking man, and his stunts are incredible! I've always liked the MI movies and hadn't seen one in awhile. Since then, Sam and I have been watching all of them.

I was one of the old-schoolers who still got Netflix DVDs by mail. They recently ended that program, and I'll miss it! It ensured that I watched movies that I wanted to see but didn't make time to see unless I had a physical DVD in hand.

I'd love to go to both of these musicals when they come to town next year. I saw Little Women in New York City around 20 years ago when Sutton Foster played Jo, and I'd love to see it again. There was the sweetest song about Massachusetts in it. And My Fair Lady would be so fun. "The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!"

John got all dressed up for an NFL Fantasy Draft party with his friends. So funny (and fun!).

My skin and eyes were glowing in this picture! 🤩 I feel that I've been blessed with good health, and I try not to take it for granted.

We went out to dinner for my mom's birthday, and her boyfriend surprised her there and brought a delicious chocolate cake. It was a really nice evening!

😋😋😋

In August, my blog views suddenly exploded. It lasted all through September too. It went from 2-3K views per month to nearly 80,000! And I have no idea why!

Look how close I was to the 0 line before that 😂. Even though it doesn't look like it, my blog usually averages around 100 views per day. And then all of a sudden it rocketed up to over a thousand per day (sometimes triple that)--what a difference!

Some nice validation for my trusty old blog!

This was a cute pillow we got when we moved to Iowa in 2010 and bought a bunch of furniture for our new house and the kind owner of the store threw this in for us because we gave him such good business. I gave it away in August and took a picture of it before I did so. Memories!

Flowers in a field on one of my walks.

There was a Saturday when Sam wasn't with me and John was away at college, when I worked at the library all day, and for dinner all I wanted was a banana split, so I went out and got myself a banana split for dinner. 😁 It was satisfying and delicious and perfectly filling! Things like this are one of the few perks of being single and alone when my kids aren't with me.

Poor Sam had poison ivy all over his face for the first day of school. Not the most auspicious start to a new school year!
He ended up going on a steroid medication and it cleared up quickly over the next few days. Obviously he needs to stay far, far away from that poisonous plant. I don't have as much of a reaction to it, but he does.
