February 2018 Randoms

Presenting February of 2018 according to my camera and phone!

Pineapples were my personal theme for 2018 because of this cute and catchy saying about them, so I had to get this insulated water bottle when I saw it at the Hallmark store.

We got a cookie cake for the Superbowl. News flash, they lost! 🙈

Jason Gay is a sports and humor writer for The Wall Street Journal who I like. I totally get his sense of humor, and I get a kick out of how he consistently refers to Bill Belichik as the Grumpy Lobster Boat Captain whenever he writes about him. It's a perfect description for him!

I liked this pretty cover of Real Simple magazine.

Sam came home from school one day with this cool toothpick-and-marshmallow structure he'd made.

Boo Boo's attentiveness here cracks me up. He's always hoping for dropped food!

Sam put together this cute Lego Beauty and the Beast castle for me. Sometimes I have to indulge my inner little girl, and sometimes my little boy helps me to do that. :-)

Boo Boo looked so cozy snuggled into these soft blankets that had been left on the stairwell landing. This was his favorite spot to rest in the house. Especially when blankets were involved!

John's winter band concert was held at City High, which has really great balcony seating so that you can actually have a good view of your kid on the stage. I miss this!
Do you see him? Here's a clue: back semi-circular row, about 10:00. He's the short one!

I don't know, I thought this was clever. Trump and Uncle Sam do bear a striking resemblance to one another!

A classic illustration of the transition from winter to spring: a sled on the front porch with a puddle in it.
That puddle had been a mound of snow a few days earlier!

Sweet blasts from the past in the Hallmark store!
Strawberry Shortcake and Lite Brite were memorable parts of my childhood.

So was Rainbow Brite!

Also at Hallmark. I love that store, and of course the Hallmark Channel! And the shore too. :-)

This was one of the last times Sam played at the indoor play area at the mall before we moved. He was getting too old for it anyway, but it was a little bittersweet for me. He'd been playing here for almost eight years, since before he turned one!

At an Iowa men's gymnastics meet. These were so much fun to go to.
P.S. If we hadn't moved, this arena is where John's high-school graduation would have been. 😢

I enjoyed watching the winter Olympics. As always, my favorite was the women's figure-skating.

A pretty shot of my Valentine's Day roses.

A stripe of sunset.

Another transition from winter to spring: a river runs through it in our backyard!

And the sandbox became a wading pool! I love the rain.

Check out this awesome merch I ordered from Bas Bleu. Adorable literary post-it notes and a hilarious "Dot to Hot" connect-the-dots book of some fine literary hotties! 😂

Bentwood almost looked like a decoration himself!
