Sleeping Beauty is Life!

Sleeping Beauty is one of my favorite animated Disney movies and has been ever since my young childhood. There are aspects of it that have always resonated strongly with me, like Briar Rose (who is actually a royal princess, which has parallels to the gospel) living in the woods and going for walks in the woods and liking animals and being kind and finding her Prince Charming in a magical way and marrying him. I guess I've always liked to think of myself as a type of Briar Rose/Sleeping Beauty, although in my case it would be more like Sleeping Pretty. If that. Ha ha.

The "I Know You" song that Phillip sings to Rose as they dance in the woods has always been magical and special to me and is the way I imagine it being with my own Prince Charming. πŸ’ž Now that I'm single and in search of the true and eternal love of my life (although like Briar Rose, I'm not actively searching), it feels more relevant than ever. As do the walks in the woods, which I take regularly, and her kinship with animals, particularly with her owl friend. πŸ˜‰

When I was working in the Children's Room at the library checking in books and movies a few weeks ago, I came across this copy of Sleeping Beauty. I was in a fanciful mood and took it as a sign and snapped these pictures of it. I know, I'm silly. πŸ˜†

Prince Phillip, setting the bar as high as it will go for men everywhere!

I've always thought Sleeping Beauty was the prettiest of the Disney princesses.

😍

I believe that I have a lot to look forward to in the future. As a faithful covenant keeper who is enduring courageously to the end, all of the righteous desires of my heart will be granted in the Lord's time. I fully believe that, and that (along with a lot of other things) brings me great peace and hope of better things to come. In the meantime, I'll indulge in my Sleeping Beauty fantasies as I go for my walks in the woods and daydream about my true love (whoever he is!). πŸ’•
