Fourth of July Weekend 2022

We spent the Fourth of July weekend and week at my favorite place to spend it, Cape Cod! It was good to be there since I wasn't there last year and didn't even have the boys last year on what was possibly the most depressing Fourth of July ever for me personally. I'm happy to report that this year's was much, much better! Even without fireworks! (Most of the Cape didn't do them because of an issue with nesting plovers. I like birds and all, but dang, they stopped the fireworks!)

On Sunday the 3rd I wore a navy blue skirt and shirt set with red polka dots and put a white barrette in my hair to complete the ensemble with patriotic colors. Silly little things like this make me happy.

I don't know what got into John, probably something he saw on social media, but that afternoon he had Sam write "I 💗 Hot Moms" on his chest and proudly went shirtless for the rest of the day to show it off. He's nuts! Fortunately we didn't go anywhere after church except to walk down to the beach in the evening.

He really got into the whole homey-boy thing (or whatever it is). 🤷

I love you too John 😉

I took a selfie with him like this in which I decidedly did not look hot, so I won't be including that here. I don't really think I'm a "hot mom" anyway, but I do think I'm an attractive one most of the time, and that's good enough for me. 😁

We had a nice al fresco dinner on the patio in which John continued to crack me up.

Not really hot, but pretty enough.

The next day was Monday the 4th. We went to the beach, a classic Fourth of July thing to do. Navy blue and white stripes for me! Not just for the 4th, but as a matter of everyday style.

The parking lot for the beach that I wanted to go to was full, so we went to another one in town that was a little further up and fortunately we were able to get one of the last spots available there. Needless to say, it was a very crowded beach day pretty much everywhere!

The four of us (me, John, Sam, and my mom) played catch in the water for awhile which was fun.

And we relaxed...

Sam was cute in his sunglasses.

Here are John's "sunglasses" 😆

And mine. 😎

John's chair tipped over with him in it and it was funny. 😄

Here I am in my 4th of July classic all-American girl get-up. I'm a little bit of a dork sometimes, but I love it!

We didn't really go anywhere or do anything special for the rest of the day. We had a barbecue dinner outside and took it easy. If there had been fireworks down the street at the beach, we definitely would have gone. Hopefully next year. Overall, it was a fun, low-key Fourth of July and a vast improvement over last year's!
