The Mount

When we left Kripalu, my mom and I spent a few hours touring The Mount, Edith Wharton's beautiful estate in Lenox, which is right next door to Stockbridge. I'd been there once before, and it was nice to go back again.

The woods surrounding the house are so pretty. For some people it's mountains, for some people it's beaches and oceans (a close second for me), for some people it's lakes, and for me, it's always been woods and forests. πŸ’š

There were some fun 3D art sculptures scattered around the grounds, like this dragon, and if you look closely in the woods above, you'll see another one (not a dragon, something else!).

How picturesque is this pretty little alcove? 😍

In any mansion the library is almost always one of my favorite rooms, and this one is no exception. I dream of having a room like this with book-lined walls and floor-length windows. Someday!

I love this elegant ceiling.

Our tour guide was this elderly woman and she was really good.
I like a nice cozy circular dining table.

Especially when it's beautifully set like this!

I was very drawn to the dining room that day. It's such a pretty and inviting room!

I like the colors and coziness of the basement kitchen, too.

We ate a nice little lunch out on the veranda. I can now say that I've dined at Edith Wharton's house. πŸ˜€

We took a path through the woods on our way out. Look at how realistic that big cat looks! It was another of the 3D sculptures (thank goodness!).

It was a lovely way to wrap up a lovely weekend!
