Christmas Things 2021

It's March, so time to blog about Christmas! πŸ˜† If I were on schedule this would have happened in January but I'm two months behind. This week I'm going to do all of my Christmas-related posts, starting with this one.

The advent candle is one of my favorite things to do in December. I hope I'll be able to find one for Christmas 2022.

I got three new things to replace the nativity set that I gave to he-who-shall-not-be-named (his grandmother gave it to us after we got married so I figured he should have it). I really like the replacements I found: an owl nutcracker that I got last summer in Mystic, a lovely figurine of The Holy Family, and a set of three battery-powered Nativity candles. I'm very happy with these additions to my Christmas collection. (When life gives you lemons...!)

This is cute and fun too.

I got myself this pretty Advent calendar from Harbor Sweets. A different chocolate for each day, and they were all delicious.

I got some new decorations for the front porch--an antique sled and two potted ornament urns that light up at night.

And two kissing balls 😘😘

A few days later I moved the two urns right outside of the front door instead of at the top of the steps. It was easier to switch them on that way and they were more protected from the wind.

Indeed. This is a good philosophy for living a truly good and meaningful life.

Next Christmas I'll make sure not to skimp on the lights at the top of the tree. Oops! πŸ˜‚

How I feel about my life and all of the good things in it!

One of my favorite spots for Brian. Christmas 2022 might be our last one with the little guy.

I love this stained glass ornament made by my good friend Meredith.
By day...

...and by night

The family room is a joy to spend time in at Christmastime

Watching the First Presidency Christmas Devotional

I really like this Nativity set. If I had more space I might have gotten it.

But I have my favorite Willow Tree set. The sun shining in around it one morning was so beautiful, and symbolic.

Getting closer!

The holiday view from my favorite reading spot in the living room.

Another good spot for Brian...

...and another. He gets high sometimes. Ha ha

Connect the dots, la la la!

Every December I order a box of delicious pears from Harry & David. They're so good! One of them comes wrapped in gold paper which always feels special when I eat it. I take the gold wrap off first. πŸ˜‰

Ten more days!

Cute Bas Bleu catalog cover

I discovered these Lindt Hot Cocoa dark chocolate truffles this year. They're so good!

A festive and delicious lunch at a friend's house

We drove through the lights at Southwick's Zoo. They did a fun international theme this year. This is as close as we get to international travel these days!

Where's Brian?

Sharalyn got me this cute little Christmas gnome pillow. I haven't gotten into the whole gnome trend but this is cute!

And some delicious lemon bread too! πŸ˜‹

My Christmas owl socks. Christmas and owls and socks, three of my favorite things!

I picked up some treats for myself when I was at Outpost Farm.

Someone left these presents for me on the doorstep the evening before Christmas Eve! How kind is that!?
I don't know who did it, but I'm so thankful to whoever did. What a thoughtful thing to do for anyone, but especially for someone going through a difficult divorce. I am blessed by the wonderful people in my life.

I love you too! Whoever you are! I hope to someday find out.

There were finally presents for me under the tree! 😁

This was a gift from my friend Shelly. I love a good old-fashioned simmering stovetop potpourri!
