The Great Cape Escape

After spending all of April and the majority of March at home, I was able to get away for a glorious weekend at the Cape with my mom, my sister Jennifer, and my niece Hayley. It was so nice to see them again and to get out of the house for a few days!

The weather was beautiful at the Cape that weekend, which made the getaway even better. Fresh air! The sea! Family! Fun times! It was heavenly. I'll never take these things for granted again.

The big public beaches were "closed," but people still walked on them.

Smaller unnamed beaches like the one down the street from the house are always open.

It was low tide and the water was calm and peaceful.

This house was right by a beach we explored. I liked the pretty light green door on the side.

This was a pretty bayside beach in Dennis that we'd never been to before.

Signs of the times ๐Ÿ˜ท

Someday I'd love to have a house overlooking the ocean like this.

We went for two different nature walks that were very refreshing.

These kindness rocks along the path were fun to see.

These pictures are from a different walk the next day. We were trying to figure out how exactly a solar calendar works. ๐Ÿ˜†

See the sea?

Boots on sand, not my usual look at the Cape!

The scenery on this walk reminds me of the moors of England (not that I've ever seen them with my own eyes ๐Ÿ˜ญ).

A scenic springtime spot behind the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History (our walk was on the path to the sea behind the museum).

The combination of yellow flowers and sprouting green leaves was pretty.

No buds on the big trees yet, though.

Picnic table selfies, aren't we cute? ๐Ÿ˜‰

We did other fun things at the house like play games (Scattergories!), watch movies, and get takeout.

It really was a wonderfully welcome weekend away in the midst of a crazy pandemic!
