Brucemorchestra

Last September on a mild fall evening, we went to one of my favorite concerts that Orchestra Iowa does. Every September for their annual kick-off for their new season they do their "Brucemorchestra" concert, which is an outdoor concert held on the grounds of the Brucemore mansion in Cedar Rapids. You bring your own chairs and a picnic dinner and enjoy music under the stars once it gets dark out. They always have a great selection of music that they perform. It's a tradition that I really miss now that we don't live there anymore.

We brought a picnic dinner from Panera. I love eating alfresco! (Despite that, this is one of the only times we've used that picnic basket!)

Among other pieces, they played Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, which is one of my favorite pieces, and a chorus accompanied "Ode to Joy." You can see the chorus in this picture. It was wonderful!

What a life!
