Crazy Times Scrapbook, May 2022

 Gas prices and inflation were rising in May, along with concern and anxiety about a lot of things. 

This, however, was encouraging news.

Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito are my favorite Supreme Court justices. I think their judgment (wink, wink) and the reasoning behind it are superb.

I agree 100% with Peggy Noonan about abortion--this is exactly how I feel: "I am pro-life for the most essential reason: That's a baby in there, a human child. We cannot accept as a society that we have decided that we can extinguish the lives of our young."

I didn't realize that less than 25% of American ob-gyns perform abortions, the top reason being personal objections to the practice. That's telling. 

I've been saying this for a long time. Treat it like the flu or the cold that for most people, it is.

That's not suspicious 🙄

This reflects my overall approach to prepping. 

But I'm not terrified. I feel mostly at peace about whatever might happen in the future. My lamp is full of oil in many different respects, and I'm ready.

 I thought this would happen if Biden got elected. Unfortunately, I was right. 😡

This article was sobering. Unfortunately, I think he's going to be proven right.

We are in trouble.

May Hair Selfies

These are from the rainy day when I did Rail Explorers. That rain did something magical to my hair because I was really liking the way it looked and felt later that day!

I really liked how it looked swept back on the side with that pretty little wave. I don't know how I did that. 😄 

If I'm ever a bride again, I'll probably wear my hair like this (only fancier). 

Speaking of being a potential bride, I'll end on a sultry note! 😂

I snapped this picture not to try to look "sultry" but because I liked the way my hair looked while I was laying down. I'm boring like that. 😄 (And that's a very good thing--literally! 😇)

Around the House and Yard in May

The yard got fresh mulch (it had been a couple years) and it looked and smelled lovely! I wish the landscaping company had cleared it with me first, though. The bill wasn't nearly as pretty as the mulch. 😖

Violet and I usually watch a show together in the family room at night before I go to bed. Honestly though, I watch and she sleeps through it every time. I don't know what's wrong with her. Or maybe it's just the shows I pick. 😆

I had to get a new umbrella for the patio table because mine broke last summer. I got it up and assembled by myself. It wasn't that hard--I've gotten pretty good at basic and even intermediate assembly projects. Go me!

Here I was relaxing by the still-covered pool on a mild Sunday afternoon. 

If I'd known what was lurking beneath that pool cover, I may not have felt quite so relaxed! (Blog post with pictures coming in a few weeks of that sordid tale; spoiler alert, it ended up costing twice as much as the mulch and yardwork. 😬)

Here are the boys walking to the bus stop one morning. I love them so much, and I treasure these days, especially with John's senior year coming up. 

And doesn't that green grass look nice? I'm especially appreciative of it now that in mid-July with a shortage of rain it's mostly burnt to a crisp.
