Work-Related Fun! (March 2026)

I like my work. I have two editing jobs that I do from home, and up until last month, I worked at my town library as a sub. That changed in March, when I interviewed for a part-time position at the library. I got the job, so I'm no longer a sub! I'm now a senior library assistant. Ooh la la! I've been enjoying the increased responsibilities and things I get to do. Here are some work-related pictures (mostly from the library) from March.

You may have heard of the recent workplace social media trend of showing pictures of employees when they were young. Two out of three of my workplaces did this:

Speaking of City Mom Media...

I get to do an endcap display each month at the library, where I pick the theme and the books, make the poster in Canva, and set it all up. I really enjoy doing it! The theme I chose for March was "Readers' Favorite Books From 2021-25" (based on Goodreads' polling).

In March, I was the guest librarian. There was a little biographical blurb about me in the library's monthly newsletter, and this display was up all month with books I like. As people checked them out, I'd restock it with more books.

Restocked. I felt special all month! 😄

One afternoon, a kind and thoughtful man brought in two beautiful floral arrangements for the library to have. They were from a family funeral he'd just come from. What a generous thing to do!

A perk of working in a library is getting to check out some of the fun programs and things that come through. On this day, there was an inflatable brain you could explore.

This is the large room in the library where big events are held.

When I was in high school—many years before the library was renovated—this room was lined with bookshelves (which I perused) and study tables (which I sat at). And many, many years before that, this room/building was a church.

Another exciting thing that happened at the library in March was the Friends of the Library's annual gift basket auction. I put a bid in on a basket I liked, and I ended up winning it!

It had some great things in it, like four free backyard yoga classes, honeycomb candles, a lists journal, and more.

The popular seed library started up again in March, and I helped package and label many packets of various vegetables and herbs.

I got my new endcap display ready for April at the end of March: "Read the book, see the movie."

And of course, as a lifelong reader whose numero uno hobby is reading, I get to see lots of books come through that I'd like to read at some point. Here are a few that I snapped pictures of to remind myself for later.

Bee books always make me think of Mr. Honey Bunny. 😁

There are good children's books, too! I'll always love children's books.

Who put that one in there? 😅

David likes C.J. Box.

And here I am at home, reading a library book. To heck with all this, I wish I could just be a professional reader!
