Fourth of July 2025: New Love, Old Traditions

I almost always go to the Cape for the Fourth of July, but I didn't this year because of my move the week before and because someone had asked if they could rent it then. For once, I'm glad I wasn't there! This was the best Fourth of July I've had in years! The weather was beautiful, I had a delicious patriotic cake to snack on 😋, and I had romantic love in my life again, thanks to David. We revived a fun tradition going back decades in my family with a picnic dinner on the grounds of the Grist Mill at the Wayside Inn, which is one of my favorite places ever. Then we stopped and got ice cream at Uhlman's on the way home, another family favorite (and tradition). It was a great day!

David, my mom, John, and I feasted on a delicious picnic dinner from KFC. I hadn't had KFC in years, and it was good!

Al fresco dinner with a view 😍

Another nice view 😉

Of course, we had to take some pictures in front of the mill! It's too pretty not to.

We went for a nice walk around the grounds after dinner.

Farther out...

Closer...

Closest! It's so picturesque.

That evening, David and I snuggled on the couch and watched the music and fireworks from the celebrations in Boston and Washington, D.C. It was a great day, from beginning to end.

The next evening, we had a BBQ dinner at Mom's house with Sam, Rocco, and Shane, and then we all went to the Lowe's parking lot to watch the fireworks that night. We had a good view because we got there early.

Do you see Sam in this picture? He's there!

It was a great weekend!
