I spent a pleasant weekend at the Cape in May with my mom and my sister Jennifer.
My mom got there before we did and re-mulched the front bed and cleaned it up. It looked and smelled so nice! It's amazing the difference that fresh mulch can make.
We ate a delicious breakfast at Keltic Kitchen. I don't get a breakfast like this very often, but when I do, I enjoy it!
We went out to the National Seashore to Nauset Beach and Nauset Light.
It wasn't summer yet and it wasn't hot out, so no crowds. Nice!
Twisted trees and scrub on the path to the beach.
Someone had built this cool driftwood hut on the beach.
Of course, I had to take a picture with it!
I saw a seal in the water but didn't get a picture of it.
(Jennifer took this lovely picture.)
Nauset Light is so picturesque. It's the lighthouse on the Cape Cod potato chip bags. (Remember our photo op from last summer?)
Way up high on the dunes above the shore
We worked together in the yard getting it ready for summer.
I took some pictures of the ping-pong table because I was going to give it away the following month to make room for our newer ping-pong table from my house. This table came with the house when we bought it in 2013, and it's been good! But it was time for it to be good for someone else.
We went on one of my favorite nature walks to the shore that's behind the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.
And finally, we stopped by Mayflower Beach, one of the Cape's most popular beaches, where it can be really hard to get parking in the summer! It was low tide, and it was nice to walk out on the flats a little ways. I love the ripples!
Before I left, I took some updated pictures of the front of the house because it looked so nice and neat after the work we did.
It was a lovely weekend away, and it reaffirmed my gratitude for having this house and for my family.
Not necessarily in that order. 😆
