Wonderful Williamsburg

On our drive East last summer we stopped for a really fun week-long vacation in beautiful and historic Williamsburg, Virginia. This was where we spent the 4th of July, and we spent the week with Peter's brother's family, which was really fun. Virginia is one of my favorite states, and that's due in large part to the Historic Triangle of Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. Peter and I had been to Williamsburg and Jamestown before, in 2007. It was fun to bring our kids with us this time, and we're looking forward to going back again when they're older.

The drive to Virginia was so scenic. It was neat to go a different route east. We drove through West Virginia, a state we'd never been in before. It was beautiful!

Our room at the Westgate Historic Williamsburg Resort was very nice (we own a timeshare through Westgate). It was decorated in a classy Federal style and it had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a full kitchen.

We had fun playing in the pool, and we had a good view of it from our room. I took this picture from our bedroom of John and Peter playing catch.

I call this post-pool hairstyle "chicken feathers."

Colonial Williamsburg is a must-do for anyone who likes and appreciates American history.
It's a wonderful, interesting, beautiful place!

Thomas Jefferson had himself some nice digs! I think he deserved it.

The back entrance to Jefferson's abode.

I remembered this tunnel of trees on the grounds of Jefferson's place from when we were there years ago.
It's so peaceful and pretty!

View of the grounds from between the leaves and branches of the tree tunnel.

We ate a delicious lunch at one of Colonial Williamsburg's authentic colonial restaurants.
I loved the atmosphere and the food. I love places like this.

Imprisoned!

The boys got a kick out of this ancient toilet in the prison.

We took some humorous artillery attack-type of lessons. There's me on the left and Lizzie next to me, and Sam, John, and Timmy across from us.

A colonial bunny!

There was this big clay pit at the brick-making demonstration that you could get all mucky in.

This seems about right!

...And here's the sixth one. Naomi was darling in her new hat!

Next up: Jamestown!
