Five Things for Friday

Today's "Five Things for Friday" is brought to you by random things that happened each day this week.

1. On Sunday I was entertained by Peter's antics at church when he stuck a Goldfish cracker on Sam's ear and Sam had no idea it was there. Believe it or not, we are reverent people in Sacrament Meeting (or at least I am), but this had me stifling my giggles and I covertly got out my phone to snap a quick picture. Silly things like this never fail to crack me up!

2. Monday was not the best day. I was up with Sam from about 4:00-5:00 a.m., so I was tired. My feet were sore all day because they were blasted with liquid nitrogen that morning in continuing efforts to eradicate a few stubborn plantar warts from the soles of my feet. I randomly got a very painful crick in my neck and couldn't turn my head a certain way for the rest of the day. My eyes felt irritated, goopy, and uncomfortable. So in other words, on Monday I was pretty much a zombie, limping around tiredly with goopy eyes and my head cocked at a funny angle.

3. Tuesday brought about the discovery of a great new recipe. One of my favorite dinner meals is juicy, tender, delicious crockpot chicken, and I tried a new recipe for it that I loved. It was Mango Crockpot Chicken, and it was so easy and delicious! Just chicken breasts, Mango Peach Salsa (from Costco), and some brown sugar and a little salt all mixed together in the crockpot for a few hours. Strangely enough it smelled a little skunky while it was cooking (maybe it was the mango/peach?), but the chicken tasted so good and flavorful. I finished the rest for my morning snack the next day. I'll definitely be making Mango Crockpot Chicken many times in the future!

4. Wednesday had some random good things in it.
I went out to lunch with my visiting teaching friends.
I got a great new purse. For some reason in the last few years I've really started to like purses, handbags, and tote bags.

My dad arrived for a visit on his way from Massachusetts to Utah.
There were lovely bouquets of roses at Costco, including my favorite, pale pink roses (my wedding bouquet flower).

5. On Thursday we had four fruit trees planted in the backyard to create a nice little orchard. In about two years we'll (hopefully) have our own apples, plums, and Bing cherries. It will be nice because we don't have a garden--I wish we did but with me gone for the majority of the summer and Peter working so much while I'm gone, we're not there to take care of it--so now we'll have a nice source of food in the yard. Well, not "now," but about two years from now once the trees have taken root and grown!

And today, TGIF!
