Oh, honestly!

My friend Danielle gave me this Honest Scrap award, and along with it I'm supposed to list ten honest things about myself. This is pretty easy since anything factual is honest...

1. I was born on July 31, 1980 in Provo, Utah. I am 28 years old.

2. Even though I'm 28, people who first meet me often think I'm somewhere around 18 years old, a full decade younger than I actually am. It's kind of embarrassing. I don't dress or act that young; it's just the way I guess I look. Maybe someday I'll be grateful for it, but I've always wished I looked more my age.

3. While growing up, I lived in Utah (twice), North Carolina (twice), Georgia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts because of my father's military job. Massachusetts is where my family finally "settled" when I started eighth grade.

4. I went to an Ivy League university where a successful career, status and prestige, and earning a high income were often stressed, but I really never wanted anything more than to be a mother.

5. Having said that, I often daydream about being: 1) an Olympic figure skater, 2) a professional ballerina, or 3) a big-time editor at one of the big-time publishing houses in Manhattan.

6. I have very little willpower, especially when it comes to food. Sometimes I wish that I actually gained weight easily because I think I'd be much more motivated to eat a lot healthier than I sometimes do.

7. I suffer from perfectionism and I hardly ever think I'm good enough.

8. I've also suffered from secondary infertility for the past three years. We had no problems getting pregnant with John. Why is it so hard the second time around? This is one of the great mysteries of my life right now.

9. I'm rarely bored. I always have things to do. And most of the time, I like it that way.

10. I'd usually rather be reading. I love books and I love to read. We have four bookshelves in our living room that are full of books. And we need another shelf!

Now I'm supposed to give this award to seven other bloggers with the instructions for them to do this same thing, but honestly, if you're a blogger and you regularly read my blog, I'm sure that one of your many fine qualities is honesty. So if you want it, I award it to you!
